International Needs New Zealand (INNZ) is a New Zealand Christian aid and development organisation. For 40 years INNZ has worked in developing countries across the globe in the areas of child sponsorship, community development, emergency relief, and the support of national church workers. INNZ’s funds come from individual donors, churches, charitable trusts and the NZ Government’s international development programme.



We are seeking to fill the part-time position of Accounts Assistant, reporting to the Accounts Manager. The Account’s Assistant main role is processing inwards and outwards payments, data entry into INNZ’s fundraising database (Raisers Edge) and accounting software (Financial Edge), banking and thank you letters to donors. The person will also be expected to cover for the Accounts Manager in her absence so that day to day functions are adequately maintained.

Detailed job role
1. Process all cash and cheques received through the mail and by direct credit into INNZ’s bank account.

3. Prepare and mail appropriate thank you letters to donors

4. Assist Sponsorship staff and Accounts Manager in responses to queries from donors and in the follow up of non-payment of expected funds from sponsors

5. Assist with preparation, printing and mailing out of annual donor receipts

6. Prepare supplier invoices for payment.

This includes:

7. Assist in the preparation of the monthly telegraphic transfer remittance of funds to projects overseas, and other ad-hoc overseas transfers when required.

8. Ensure that electronic and paper records arising from the above processes are filed correctly

9. Provide cover for telephones and reception when necessary

10. Assist with general administration duties, supporting other INNZ team members as and when needed

This role is for 10 hours per week, preferably 5 hours on Tuesdays and 5 hours on Fridays. Extra hours may occasionally be required in times of peak workload. There is some flexibility available over school holiday periods. Normally the work is to be carried out at 120 11th Avenue, Tauranga. The rate is $18 per hour gross.
